Mr. Simon Dion Henderson, Director of the Alliance Française since 2016, has formally submitted his resignation, effective October 8th, 2024. In his resignation letter, Henderson cited ongoing challenges that hindered his ability to perform his duties effectively. Despite raising these concerns with the Alliance Française Committee and the President, Henderson noted a lack of autonomy and support in managing his responsibilities.
During a recent medical leave in August, Henderson offered to manage translations remotely but continued to face operational challenges. He also expressed frustration over outdated work expectations, referencing the global shift in work methods since the COVID-19 pandemic. Henderson believes the Alliance Française failed to adapt, particularly in allowing flexibility for managerial roles.
Despite these challenges, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities during his tenure and wished the Alliance Française continued success.
