Discover Dominica Authority, in collaboration with Outsource Development Inc., announces the “Elevate Your Service” training series, set to run from Aug. 19 to Sept. 10, 2024. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of tourism frontline personnel across various sectors, including accommodation providers, taxi service providers, craft and souvenir vendors, tour guides, and more.
The comprehensive training program will cover essential topics such as effective communication, dealing with difficult situations, adding value to the visitor’s experience, team building, and conflict resolution with colleagues and clients. The goal is to ensure that Dominica’s tourism professionals are well-equipped to deliver exceptional service to visitors.
Odile Jno Baptiste, Discover Dominica Authority’s Product Promotions Manager, emphasized the significance of the training: “Elevating the service standards of our tourism professionals is crucial for enhancing the overall visitor experience in Dominica. This training series will empower our frontline personnel with essential skills and knowledge, enabling them to navigate industry challenges and exceed visitor expectations. By investing in their development, we ensure that our visitors receive exceptional service, which is vital for the growth and sustainability of our tourism sector.”
The training schedule is as follows:
Accommodation: Aug. 19 and 20, 2024, at Dominica State College
Other Tourism Frontline Personnel (information officers, security personnel, park wardens): Aug. 21 and 22, 2024, at Dominica State College
Taxi Service Providers (Group 1): Aug. 26 and 27, 2024, at National Development Foundation of Dominica
Taxi Service Providers (Group 2): Aug. 28 and 29, 2024, at National Development Foundation of Dominica
Craft and Souvenir Vendors (Group 1): Sept. 2 and 3, 2024, at Fisheries Conference Room
Craft and Souvenir Vendors (Group 2) and Hair Braiders: Sept. 4 and 5, 2024, at Fisheries Conference Room
Tour Guides: Sept. 9 and 10, 2024, at Fisheries Conference Room
At the end of the session, each participant will receive a certificate of participation. It is anticipated that the participants will apply the knowledge to their respective fields to improve the quality of service delivered to visitors.
