USA — The world’s largest home improvement specialty retailer, The Home Depot, has named Jamaican Ann-Marie Campbell as the company’s senior executive vice-president, effective November 1, 2023.
The Kingston-born Campbell, who has been with the company for the past 38 years, will be responsible for the retail giant’s outside pro sales efforts, as well as its installation services, according to a press statement from the company.
She will continue to oversee the operations of Home Depot stores in the United States, while still overseeing operations of The Depot Canada and The Home Depot Mexico units.
The youngest of four children and the only girl, Campbell began her career with The Home Depot as a part-time cashier at one of the company’s stores in South Florida in 1985, while she was still pursuing higher studies.
Campbell reportedly lost her father in an accident before she turned three years old and migrated to the United States with her mother and siblings shortly after graduating from the Holy Childhood High School, near Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew.
She holds an MBA as well as a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University (GSU) in Georgia.
Campbell has served in numerous capacities with the company as she climbed through the ranks, including department head, store manager, district manager and regional vice-president, among other key positions in merchandising and special orders, retail marketing and sales and vendor services.
Founded in 1978, The Home Depot operates over 2,300 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands. As the world’s largest home improvement retailer, the company currently employs more than 470,000 associates and is renowned for its sale of tools, lumber, gardening items and home construction materials among other items popular with householders.
For fiscal year 2022, the company realised sales of $157.4 billion a 4.1 per cent increase year-on-year.
