Greed, thievery there will always be

The reports of alleged thievery of customers’ funds at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), Sagicor and National Commercial Bank (NCB) remind us that there has been greed and other motives for stealing from time immemorial. The issue is whether the guard rails were strong enough to prevent or minimise it, and if not, will any heads roll?

What’s happening with us women?

Never in Jamaica

Jacinda Ardern said she is stepping down as prime minister of New Zealand on February 7, 2023, and will not contest this year’s general elections, explaining: “I am not leaving because it was hard. I am leaving because with such a privileged role comes responsibility, the responsibility to know when you are the right person to lead and, also, when you are not. I know what this job takes, and I know that I no longer have enough in the tank to do it justice. It is that simple,” she said. Wow! That could never be in Jamaica.

Maybe Dr Chris Tufton, the health minister, can enlighten our darkness on this matter.
