ALBERTA, Canada – Scores of people on Sunday turned out for a civic ceremony to mark Jamaica’s 61st year of Independence.
The annual event was hosted by the Jamaican Canadian Association Alberta (JCAA) and held at its building in Northeast Calgary.
Among the highlights of the events were greetings from Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Canada Sharon Miller and JCAA President David Pennant, and the presentation of scholarships to students pursuing tertiary studies in the province.
