ST ANN – Hundreds of team members from Sandals Royal Plantation and Sandals Dunn’s River benefited from a special back-to-school presentation at both resorts last week.
The events saw team members being presented with school supplies, including school bags, books and other items needed to help prepare their children for the upcoming school term. They also received special gift vouchers to Fontana Pharmacy and several other establishments.
General Manager of Sandals Royal Plantation Arnold Nugent, who was on hand to pack as well as assist in the distribution of the school supplies, said his resort was cognisant of the extra demand this time of the year placed on the finances of Jamaicans, and as such the staging of the event was a way for the resort to say thanks to team members for their services and assist in their efforts.
Deryk Meany, general manager of newly-opened Sandals Dunn’s River noted “We realise that back-to-school time in Jamaica is a tough period, so the resort purchased the supplies for the team members who have children attending school.”
Meany said that the welfare of the team members was of paramount importance to Sandals and the exercise was just one of the many team member engagement events being staged throughout the year.
“I am so thankful to the company for this wonderful gesture,” said Sandals Dunn’s River chef Leron James. “Every effort by the resort to assist us is appreciated and we are grateful,” he noted.
Johnovan Gaynor, team member at Sandals Royal Plantation, pointed to the many team member events undertaken at his resort, including monthly and annual awards, birthday parties and giveaways, stating that it pointed to Sandals’ commitment to its staff.
