Barbados is currently under a flash flood warning.
A flash flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.
Maximum rainfall accumulations of 30 to 75mm in heavy to intense showers are anticipated throughout the afternoon as a tropical wave continues affecting the island.
This alert is valid from 1 pm Thursday and will be updated/terminated at 6 p.m., or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
Flash flood watch extended
A tropical wave will be affecting Barbados, bringing occasional heavy to intense showers.
Rainfall accumulations up to an inch are possible throughout the afternoon period.
As a result, a previously issued flash flood watch has now been extended from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday.
A flash flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur, but it is possible.
This alert may be updated/terminated sooner, if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
