The Education Committee leads HCPA’s efforts to expand access to education and support the academic development of students in Greater Houston and across the Caribbean. Through scholarships, school-supply initiatives, and community partnerships, the committee helps students access the resources, experiences, and encouragement they need to succeed.

HCPA awards annual scholarships to support eligible students pursuing higher education in Texas. Funded through donations and fundraising events, the scholarship program recognizes academic achievement, leadership, cultural engagement, and service to Caribbean communities.

The program includes the HCPA Academic Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to students demonstrating strong academic performance, and the Shari Augustine Community and Cultural Advancement Scholarship, established in 2023 in memory of HCPA member Shari Augustine. This legacy scholarship honors a student who embodies Shari’s enduring commitment to Caribbean culture, community, and service.

Through school-supply drives and financial contributions, HCPA supports students and schools in need in communities throughout Greater Houston and the Caribbean. Members and volunteers collect, pack, and help distribute essential educational materials, including backpacks, notebooks, and other classroom supplies.
HCPA has provided educational support to communities in Haiti, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
