At a court sitting in the criminal high court on 6th January, 2024, the Director of Public Prosecutions Ms. Sherma Dalrymple, exercised her power to discontinue a matter under section 72(2)(c) of the Constitution.
Dalrymple discontinued the matter of the State v Jack Joseph who was charged for the murder of Wayne Maxwell at krazy coconuts on Sunday June 3, 2012. Upon review of the state’s case, the evidence presented showed that Joseph acted in self defence and as such there was no evidence to support the charge of murder.
Prior to its discontinuance, a date was set for trial at the Criminal assizes arraignment back in January 16th, 2024.
Joseph who has been on bail since July of 2013, is now a free man.
